CAPTUS was presented at the CO2RED “CO2 for Sustainability” Workshop.
Today July 23, the Workshop “CO2 for Sustainability” was held at the Leopoldo Guimarães Auditorium – CENIMAT|i3N, at NOVA School of Science and Technology (Caparica Campus, Lisboa, Portugal). This Workshop was organised in the scope of the CO2RED project, financed by FCT, of which LNEG is a partner.
During this event, Angel Irabien from Universidad de Cantabria presented CAPTUS and some of its results with a talk titled “Carbon Capture and Utilization in the Cement Industry”.
The CO2RED project aims to achieve new scientific advances in the co-electrolysis process of CO2 and water to produce syngas (CO+H2). Research work aims the integration of a catalytic system to build a 3D porous cathode with a high surface area and a structure resulting from pore engineering, assisted by advanced modeling, and the adaptation of a proton exchange membrane to the electrochemical reduction of CO2 contributing to the minimization of ohmic losses and improvement of the overall efficiency of the process.
