CAPTUS recently participated in the final meeting of the SOSCEM project “Mejora de la sostenibilidad ambiental de la industria cementera mediante la utilización de emisiones de CO₂ bajo un enfoque de economía circular”, funded by SODERCAN (Society for the Development of Cantabria). The meeting took place in person on 18 November 2025 at the Grupo Cementos Portland Valderrivas facilities in Mataporquera. The Spanish cement manufacturer is also project partner in CAPTUS, beeing responsible for one of the demonstration sites.
The SOSCEM project has focused on developing membrane-based CO₂-capture technologies and enabling the subsequent electroreduction of captured CO₂ into high value-added products. The work aimed to advance the technological readiness level (TRL > 4) for CO₂ streams generated during the clinkerization process, contributing valuable progress toward reducing the environmental footprint of the cement industry.
During the meeting, we also had the opportunity to exchange updates on recent developments within CAPTUS. These discussions further strengthened collaboration between ongoing initiatives working toward low-carbon transformation in energy-intensive sectors.
