From September 2–4, 2025, the 3rd Symposium on Insights into Gas Diffusion Electrodes (Berlin) gathered experts to exchange the latest insights on this key technology.
Our partner University of Cantabria contributed to the program, where José Antonio Abarca presented results from CAPTUS in his talk “Optimizing GDE Catalyst Layer Composition for Durable CO₂ Electroreduction to Formate.”

Gas Diffusion Electrodes (GDEs) are essential in devices like fuel cells, electrolyzers, and advanced batteries – enabling energy conversion and chemical synthesis, while tackling challenges in gas transport and reaction interfaces.
It was an inspiring event to be part of and to share progress towards durable and efficient CO₂ conversion technologies!
