A new opinion article by Dusan Jakovljevic, Policy and Communication Director at EEIP and EUSEW 2025 Digital Ambassador, highlights the CAPTUS project as a strong example of how EU-funded research can support both climate goals and industrial transformation.

Published on BalticWind.EU, the piece argues for the creation of a dedicated EU Implementation Fund to bridge the gap between innovation and market uptake. Such a fund would address key challenges facing Horizon Europe and LIFE Programme projects, ensuring their results lead to real-world impact through targeted support mechanisms.

As an example of implementation-oriented research, CAPTUS is showcased for its approach to converting industrial CO₂ emissions into high-value renewable energy carriers. The project’s integrated technology development not only contributes to decarbonisation goals, but also creates new job opportunities across engineering, manufacturing, and operations.

By connecting innovation with job creation and economic regeneration, CAPTUS illustrates how early planning for replication and scale-up can enhance the long-term value of EU-funded initiatives.
